HUT MAINTENANCE 2012/13

The hut is in need of maintenance! As you may or may not already know, MUAC Turoa hut is a non-profit accommodation facility on the Turoa Ski field. You are receiving this email because you have recently booked accommodation at this facility.

My name is Stacey Hendriks, I am the hut officer, and therefore I am in charge of ensuring that the hut is in an operable condition and meeting the requirements of the DOC and regional council. I am reasonably new to this role and would like to see the standards lifted. As you may know the hut is continually requiring maintenance and improvements, and our aim is to provide an excellent facility for year round use. Along with Linsey Higgins, whom you have likely already dealt with, the hut bookings officer and life member of the MUAC club, Graham Bennett, we have come up with some plans for the maintenance of the hut.

We will be conducting a series of maintenance weekends over the summer and require some volunteers

Saturday 1^st – 2^nd December – First Working Bee

-          Replace guttering

-          Clean down exterior/interior

-          Primer exterior

-          Interior painted

-          Sand the floor

Saturday 8^th – 9^th December – Second Working Bee

-          1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd coat – exterior

-          Painting floor – 2 coats

-          Touch up paint on roof

A third working bee to come

Linsey, Graham and I do this voluntarily and give up our time to ensure that we can provide you with an amazing facility, and we want to see that it is around for future generations. We would truly appreciate if you could volunteer some of your time to help us with the maintenance of the hut.
